Need IFS Mustang 2 HELP PLEASE

hello, I have a 69 C-10. The truck is currently set up on stock front end with bags and drop stepped A-Arms. I am unhappy with the Air-Ride Set-up and want to go to a static drop. I am looking at a Mustang 2 conversion for the truck but I am unsure what kit to use. I have it narrowed to Fatman and Scotts. Both seem like good kits, but Fatman is a bolt in for alignment and Scotts is a measure and Weld in kit. Does anyone have experience with these to help with the decision? On both kits, I am planning to run coil-overs with a power rack and 5x5 lug set-up. My truck currently runs 20" wheels in the front and I might step it up to 22" after the kit. Both kits are about equal in price.
Thanks,
Chris

I would go with the bolt it kit for ease of use. I've also heard that Scott's can be a little slow on delivery - not all people have complained of this though..so it could be just a few occasions.

For what it's worth, I have used Fatman's kits twice on different vehicles with good success.

Use one of my Dropmembers and keep the spindles and brakes you already have. I noticed you don't want to go with air... I can build the upper control arm mount to accept a coil-over.

If you don't know what a 'Dropmember' is, there is a thread here in the suspension forum entitled 'Dropmember ina 69 C10'.

That's what I would suggest too. I think you need to reconsider using air bags again. It sounds like you had problems with your system. A properly set up air suspension won't be as much trouble....

What do you not like about the current air suspension you have installed?

The 'Dropmember' is a bolt-in & is engineered specifically for these trucks. That engineering is the difference between working & working really well.

Re: Need IFS Mustang 2 HELP PLEASE

I, for one, would never use a Mustang II suspension on a truck. It just doesn't look beefy enough. It was all designed for a car that weighs considerably less than our trucks.

Porterbuilt's dropmember is less money and looks to be a very well made piece that, once again, is designed specifically for our trucks, not just adapted to fit. Hopefully when income taxes come in I'll be able to order my own dropmember.

Not to mention that you'd be supporting a paying vendor that helps keep this board up & running.

Re: Need IFS Mustang 2 HELP PLEASE

PorterBuilt - How do I get ahold of you?> I tried searching this site for your information and could not find it? I read the thread, but still have questions.
By truck has 4 wheel drums and I am upgrading to discs. If I dont use an Mustang 2 IFS, I may buy CPP's conversion kit and A-Arms. I assume this would still work in your kit.
Thanks - Chris
