How Do My Trim Hole Welds Look?

Its been many years since I have done ANY welding.
I just got the millermatic 175 and these are my first welds. I had a few tough spots in the begining trying to get the heat and wire speed right but thought they started to look ok after awhile. So whadda ya think? Opinions? Tips?

Not bad at all! Get 'em dressed down and smooth and you'll be ready for some epoxy primer.

Good job!

Welds look good. I heard of a trick and tried it on mine. You place a piece of copper behind the panel and flush with the back of the metal. This acts as a heat sink and the weld will not stick to it. It reduced the warping and the burning out of the hole. You can see mine at...

I just used a copper end cap for copper pipe, and it worked pretty well. I believe Eastwood sells some copper spoons that would work better. I was amazed that he weld would not affect the copper.

Good luck.

I was even cheaper when I welded up holes that were drilled in the bed, I used a penny, worked great.
