81-87, 3/4 ton frames taller?

How much difference is there between 1/2 ton and 3/4 ton frames? I cant seem to find a nice 3/4 ton anywhere so I think I might just buy a clean 1/2 ton and swap axles/springs. Is that the only difference?

If you don't get any answers to this today I will measure my '86 3/4 ton frame for you tomorrow.

Re: 81-87, 3/4 ton frames taller?

The frame rails on my '86 3/4 ton 2wd are 8 1/8" tall

how tall are 81-87 1/2 ton frame rails? I know my '71 is something like 6"

Re: 81-87, 3/4 ton frames taller?

all 1/2 ton and 3/4 ton frame rails are identical, 2wd or 4wd. They are all the same part number. Only difference is the bracketry bolted to them

The 1 ton frames are very different though, much thicker, and much heavier duty.
