Re: 1972 short bed 454?

all original...
with varnished bed wood and stainless strips, non original shocks, steering wheel, engine, wheels... if I'm not mistaken, the disk brake sticker was a 71 item... not 72... aftermarket stainless in the door jamb...all original open air filter... is that an alluminum *non painted* intake?

Yep, looks all original to me.

It's a nice truck, but I think it's a chimera.

Re: 1972 short bed 454?

I remember 454s in 70 Chevelles but I don't think any appeared in trucks until 73.

Re: 1972 short bed 454?

I actually ignored that... seems there were some dealers that thought a gay lookin hood orniment was a good idea.
I almost ignored the steering wheel too, only becouse the p/n for that one superceeded the one for the real original. So as a restoration...that could be considered a correct part, at least, 5 years ago it coulda been, since they weren't making reproductions yet. However, since it claims to be original...it's just plain and simple bull sh!t.

Chevy El camino and GMC Sprint could be had with the 454 in 1970.

True True True, I guess this falls under the category of Buyer Beware! If someone is willing to spend that kind of coin they should have some knowledge of the product. (or not care)

oh yeah, and thanks for that comment about the scion ......I have one thank you very much, i love the box!

I didn't mean to offend anyone with the Scion comment (although apparently I touched a nerve). I have been here a while and have always went out of my way to not cause any hard feelings between members. You gotta admit the Scion is an unconventional machine and most people wouldn't associate a Scion owner with a 67-72 truck owner. Of course I kind of get the same reaction as I also own an import.

Rock on Bro!

Re: 1972 short bed 454?

polished 454 fender badges?
73+ steering wheel?
core support and wheel wells are absolutly spot less?
i have never seen a alt bracket like that?
73+ rear veiw mirror mount?

it is a high hump floor.
some one said in another thread that you could s/order a 454 in 72 but was not part of any typical package.
