Where to find choke cable
I have been looking in the catalogs for a choke cable for my 66 C10 with six cylinder. Haven't found anything for that year but knobs. Am I missing something ?

Re: Where to find choke cable
I have a choke knob that has a broken cable on it...........I think you can get a 60-62 choke cable from classic chevy parts out of Kansas City........I'll go out it the garage and see if the knob off of my 65 will fit on my 62 project and I'll let you knon in just a little while..........Hemmit

Re: Where to find choke cable
Well the results are in...................the 64-66 has a screw on knob......................the 60-63 has a push on knob................they also attach to the dash differently............If you had a die small enough it might be possible to thread the older shaft to fit the newer knob but you'd have to used the escustion from the dash of the older style on a 64-66............sounds like a lot of trouble to me............you might check napa, etc to see if they have a plain jane one that will work.........later......hemmit PS................did any of this make any sense?????????????

Re: Where to find choke cable
I think your best bet is to use a universal cable ( motormite , help, dorman all make them ) and use your original knob. Or hit up the bone yard for one. I realy hate the choke cables, ad wish I could addapt an electric one.
So olCurt hows did your power steering work out ? |

Re: Where to find choke cable
Demmitt,
It makes sense, I'm just trying to keep as close to factory as I can with the exception of a few things to make it more drivable. I know I have seen the diagram with the choke cable on it in somebodies catalog, but just can't find it. Sal, The power steering is great now. Send me an address and I'll get the brackets out to you. |

Re: Where to find choke cable
The reason for the removable knob is to put the nut on first and tighten from the outside. On my '64 a universal one fit just fine, but the nut was set up different. Tightening the nut from under the dash was a challenge. Thanks, Phil
