The gas tank skid has some pitting on the inside. I`ll try to get another pic of it tomorrow. Woody

Re: 4X4 skid plates, gas tank & TC

That gas tank SP should work real well on a K-PU when the blazer/sub tank is mounted in the rear. It would keep a poly tank from sagging and a poly tank would not rust from the dirt that gets between the OE metal tanks with SPs.

Re: 4X4 skid plates, gas tank & TC

Just a question to this group who seems to be familiar with this stuff. I have both the gas tank cover and the tc skid plate I took off of my 70 blazer, doing complete restore now. However, tc skid plate looks same but the mount bracket on mine looks different than the ones I see on this post. I am going to use mine but just wanted your expert opinions.

That crossmember in the middle of the bottom pic, it is also in the 1st pic,
does not look factory to me, however I have been known to be wrong.

Re: 4X4 skid plates, gas tank & TC

skidplate definitly looks correct but the crossmember looks homemade. maybe a dealer/aftermarket thing . i believe HICKEY used to build off road accessories back then so maybe it's one of theirs.

Re: 4X4 skid plates, gas tank & TC

Hey, I'm just looking for a gas tank skid plate for my 1972 Blazer. Never hurts to ask. Never know who might have one (even 2 years after their post). If anyone else has a gas tank skid plate for a 1972 Blazer, PM me with pics and price to 98052. I'd really appreciate it! Thanks!
