Crew cab 4x4 rear driveshaft(s)
I have a little delimma I am trying to figure out before I actually have to deal with it. I am building a 77 crew cab and I am converting it to four wheel drive. I had a 700r4 with a 208 tranny and transfer given to me and there is hardly any miles on their rebuild so I am going that route. My question is the 208 has a slip yoke for the rear driveshaft. The truck will need a 2 piece driveshaft due to its length so will I have to convert the transfer to a bolt on yoke or will I be ok with the slip yoke at the transfer onto my new front shaft and the factory slip yoke at the carrier bearing? I am not sure if the carrier bearing will keep the front shaft stationary and let the factory slip yoke do the work or will they collapse and my driveshaft fall out of the transfer case. Plus if you all would happen to have any pics of your 4x4 setups on a crew cab like driveshafts and such I would like to see them.
