Am I going to have to narrow my rearend?
Well i finally got my wheels on my frame and they look sweet!!! My question is the overall width of my rearend with tires is 76 1/4" roughly. I don't have a fleetside bed yet and i was wondering if anyone knows if it will tuck the tires without any rubbing being that wide. I am worried that i might be about 1-2" too wide and i might have to narrow my rear end. Thanks alot!
Josh

Looks like you are a little wide. Measuring on my truck, it looks like 75" overall width is about the max. Don't have any exact measurements, as my garage is a mess, but I'd say you are too wide.

Re: Am I going to have to narrow my rearend?
Yea, based on the experience with my truck I think you will be just a little too wide. My 9" rearend is 58.25" wide and I mocked it up to see what wheel backspacing I could use, and determined that with 7" of wheel outside the drums [20x10 with only 3" BS] I would be just touching the inside of the bedside when airred down [frame C-notched and wheels tucked]. Sorry no picts, haven't bought my wheels/tires yet.
I figure my outside width before tire bulge is 72.25". So at 76.25" you will be sticking out a bit. How low do you want to go with this truck? If you are on coils and not tucking, it may work although you will be throwing a few rocks at your sheetmetal. Edit: Checked out your build thread, very nice! I do think you will be pretty wide though. If you shorten the rear end are you going to have to move those outside links in also? That would be a bummer because the lift setup is awesome. Re: Am I going to have to narrow my rearend?
My truck is down to the frame (also no bed yet) so it would be nice to know total track width front and rear from you guys on bags. It would be nice just have some #'s to play with.
Thanks Jack |

Re: Am I going to have to narrow my rearend?
With stock ralleys and 235/75 15 tires, my truck measures 73" edge to edge. I have about an inch from the tire to the edge (trucks on it's side right now, so that is what I recall). So I would concur with the 75" overall max.
