How many holes are in the body for the top trim, I am considering having them welded up...

71meangreenc10,
I don't remember the exact number but I seem to remember it being just short of 50 holes(it was a lot...I drilled all of them since our Suburban did not originally have moldings)

Re: More updated pics of wifes 72 Suburban

Thanks for all of the compliments guys, they really help to keep me going through the restoration process(these things are HUGE!). Makes all the work worth it. The exhaust manifolds are reproductions of Chevelle manifolds. They are available from a place called The Muscle Factory that specializes in Chevelles and ElCaminos. They are very nice reproductions and go for about $325 a pair. I will try to get some more pic of my project posted soon,so stay tuned!

Re: More updated pics of wifes 72 Suburban

Yup, I do like that color. I will be painting my lowered swb the same, it's the original color. Question is, did you give them paint codes or have them match the color of something you took in? I ask because some paint brands don't seem to go back to the 70's for codes. I haven't purchased the paint yet so just wondering about the outcome. Also, what brand of paint? Is it single stage Urethane? That's what I hope to use. Thanks,

Re: More updated pics of wifes 72 Suburban

i'm so glad that there are people out there that like to leve the engine stock i feel there a learning book for the younger Gen cus most of the kids will want to see a stock one and hear it run and then they can decide if they want to mod it out the HEI is a good step to making the truck more as a daly driver

and in my book if you need to refer to the sirvice manule there are no surprizes grate build

Re: More updated pics of wifes 72 Suburban

The color that you see is the original color. I was able to supply the color code and name(medium olive can't remember the code ,I will get it off of the can and put it on here) and they found a formula at the paint store. The paint is Omni basecoat/clearcoat. Omni is PPG's second line material very good material(urethane) but with less warranty than PPG Concept and about 1/3 the cost.

Re: More updated pics of wifes 72 Suburban

I got the color code. In Omni it is MBC2097 Medium Olive. My wife decided to repaint in the original color and even though I was doubtful the color is quite striking especially with the white roof and moldings.

Thanks for the info, I've been thinking of painting my 2wd that color and after seeing it on your wifes burb I'm definitely going with it.
