vortec heads on a 283

I am wanting to find out if anyone on here has put vortec heads on a 283.

any input welcome..

I have done it on a 350 but not a 283. Those heads will work on any 283-400 sbc. You will need a new vortec style intake. It should have the same effect as any other sbc. More volume of A/F mix into the cylinders = more power.

thanks for the input...
i have most of the components ( intake etc) sure wanted to make the 283 screame if i could...i have a couple of 350 and 327 blocks lying around...
i thought i had read somewhere that the valves might make contact with the smaller diameter bore of the 283 block....

it shouldn't, I would use the 283 head gasket to double check.

The valves will clear the deck just fine.....he!!, you can run 2.02 /1.6 valves on a 3 7/8" bore, as long as you dont go past about .450 lift @ the valve. I sure dont reccomend that large a valve tho....doubt that you would gain anything, due to shrouding.... L
