Was a 153 tooth or 168 tooth flex plate stock for a 1970 GMC 3/4 ton with a LS9 350.

I believe that it depended on the application of vehicle. My 350 of that era, had the 168 tooth flexplate.

I think the 153 tooth were only found on cars that might have had exhaust clearance problems like V8 Monza's, Camaro, Nova, etc. I went with 153 tooth on my V8 powered S10 Blazer for header clearance. It tucks the starter in closer to the block.

Most of the 153 toothed flexplates were on cars, but the larger ones could be found everywhere, I f I remember right. The starters for the larger flexplates are the ones with the offset bolt pattern, the smaller were the straight across bolt pattern.
