Specified weight of gear lube?
Can some tell me what was the originally specified weight of gear lube for the differential of a 68 C-10 was?

you mean there are different wieghts..i never ran nothing but 80/90 wieght..wil have to see what the other guys say...

80/90 if running conventional oils... I think the synthetic we use in place of it is like a 75/140... something like that.

the book calls for 90weightup to 100 degrees80weight for under 10 degrees and in canada

I think the 80/90.Also important is to use the additive if you have a no-slip.The name of it escapes me at this moment but someone should chime in.

Original was 80w-90 and if you had posi you needed to add a friction modifier to eliminate chatter. I will be running 75w-90 Royal Purple in mine when I re-gear and it already has friction modifiers in it for posi...if I was really going to rage on it I would run 75w-140 synthetic
