What size rims? - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

I am about to buy some rims for my 68 1/2 ton and was looking at 15x7 and 15x8 rims. Tire size that is going on the truck is either a 235-75-15 or a 255-70-15. Does the width of the rim matter?

Either tire will work fine on 6 - 8" wide rims.

i have a 71 c-10 with 255/70r15 on a 10 inch rally wheel i am running Dayton' daytonas sr tires and i love them

I use 15x7 rims. I think the origianls, 15x6 are to narrow, while 15x8 seem to wide to me. Just my opinion but the 15x7 seem just right. Those are 15x7's on my truck in my avatar.
