Re: tranny

Match up the shape of the pan to the image on this page to find out what you have.

Re: tranny

The auto parts stores tell me that my truck wasn't available with a TH350C in '86, but they are wrong. It is listed as a 3 speed auto on the glove compartment sticker.

I don't know about '87, but they may have still been around.

Re: tranny

If you don't have an OD indication on the column shift pattern, then it is probably a 350C tranny. Does it have an electrical plug on the driver's side of the tranny with an electrical connection going to it? That would be for the lock-up converter. The electrical connection would go up to a vacuum switch on the intake manifold (called the TCC) and it was switched there. This was the intermediate between the TH350 and the 700R4 trannys. the input shaft on a 350C is smaller in diameter than the TH350, thus it was considered a little bit weaker in design than the older trannys.

Re: tranny

Chevy mixed them up pretty good so anything is possible. I recently saw a late 70's camper special (3/4 ton) with a 454 and a t350 behind it. Totally original truck.
