I'm getting ready to do a tune up on the 350 in my burb I was wondering what would be a good plug to run? I'm running just the standard A/C's in it now, is there a plug out there that is going to make the Ol' burb run better then she does now?

I hate CHAMPION plugs, never could get them to last any time at all in a normal warmed up small block BUT i came across their "TRUCK PLUGS" a couple of years ago and have used them ever since, I like NGK or BOSCH "platinum tipped" normally but these TRUCK PLUGS have really passed the test for me in my 350 While I was using it to play off road with, Sometimes idling for extended periods of time crawling in the rocks or sand. Now I'll give em a shot on the street.

If you run headers, and clearance is an issue, try the BOSH supers. They are pretty short, and 99 cents at Auto Zone.

I've had success with Autolites and Champions...going with Champion again simply because that's the plug Scoggin-Dickey recommends for my Vortecs.

Champions? really? The reason I ask is because I have NEVER heard good things about there plugs other then the "truck plugs"
Autolites- Arn't those made by Ford for Ford's?

ive got autolite platinum something in the 4x4, works good for me.. but i wouldnt recomend AC delco plugs for anything, i have to change them out in my grandas truck every time i start it

*shrug* I've used 'em a few times over and no problems at all.

Autolites...no, those are by Honeywell (formerly Allied Signal), aka the same boys who bring you Fram, Prestone, and Bendix.

I have had great luck with the autolite Plats.. and as far as FORD making them well they finally had to get something right LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:p

I have tried many different types of plugs in my vehicles. The hands down winner in my experience has been the AC RapidFire plugs. I am currently running these in my 67, with a .045 gap. They are very responsive and smooth idling. I have also had resonably good luck with Bosch Platinum plugs - they run smooth, but feel less responsive than the Rapid Fires.

I second the Rapidfire vote, some of the best plugs I have ever used, in fact the best ones by far for longevity and smootheness of running. Wouldn't even bother with Bocsh, there plugs are trash, at least mine were.

I replaced the Autolites that my grandpa used in the truck with ACDelcos and they seem to be great.

I really don't think there is a miracle plug to make your engine run any better.

I agree with Bob.But I will never use another champion plug.I put them in my 71 a few years ago and it ran terrible.I run AC's in all of mine

well sometime today when I get the chance I'm going to change the plugs! I guess I'll stick with the A/C's thats what I have always used and they always did work well for me. But this time I think I will try those rapid fires! Thanks for all ther replies!

Years ago A/C was for GMs,AUTOLITES for f-rds,Champions for
CHRS,NGK and BOSCH for imports.
Now thay make um for everything.
BOB your right KEEP YOUR GM GM.
I like to put just alittle HOTTER plug in the old carbed engines,
I think thay burn the fuel of today better.
JUST MY 2 CENTS.

I used to run a hi 11 second car with nitrous. Tried a test once. Ran autolites on one side and AC's on the other. Melted the electrodes on all the AC's. The autolites were fine.

Well I did the tune up today! I didn't end up running the rapid fires cause Napa didn't have all 8 of them and did't have 8 of any other platnum plugs either! Damn!! So I ended up running regular R44t A/C's.......seems to be running better, but is still burbing oil...............thats a whole nother story!

i just replaced my a/c 44s with the H/P Accel shorties. im sure the 44s were short enough for the new Sanderson CC10 headers i just bought, but i figured why not try something different. in the process i had to change to 90? boots so i stepped up from Accel super stock 8mm wires to Accels 8.8mm spiral core wires.
a little more hp and less hesitation off the line were the result. plugs, wires, or combo? i dont know, but it worked
