HELP!!! Flaking Paint in billet grill.

i need a way to take rest of the paint off, so i can repaint it.
any advise?
also, how should i paint it, and what paint, should i use to make it last longer

I would probably take it out and have it media blasted, use a primer for bare metal and then re-paint. Or get it powder coated.

Powder would be ideal, but good luck matching that color.

A good media blasted profile with an etching primer should solve your problems i would think.

From the picture, the grill looks to be black. If you're keeping it black you should have it powder coated.

how much should be resonable for powdercoat, leaving the outside brushed????

I would say a good shop would be less than $80 for a GOOD powder job. You can brush the outside yourself if they want to charge you additional for that(100 grit works great).

That same thing happened to the Trenz grill I had on my '03 Silverado. I used a black paint marker and painted on the areas that the paint was peeling. You couldn't tell unless you knew what to look for.

i would really want to do it right, im planing on getting it media blasted, and probably primed and painted, im thinkin john deer blitz black, they use on tractors should be hard enough.

not sure about the cost, but I would have the entire thing powdercoated, then use a block to sand the front edge, that would prevent you from removing any black from inside the fins, and give you the "brushed" look.

I'm pretty sure that's how it's done at the factory.
