Hep me, Hep me, will 85 Burb column fit?

A junkyard buddy is crushing a 1985 Suburban that has an AT tilt column, will it fit a 67-72 without major modification?

That's not to say it CAN'T be put in but will take more work than using one from a 67-72 truck or later van. I have seen a couple of trucks with late model columns in them but were in unfinished condition. If it's going to be crushed anyway go ahead and take the column and give it a comparison to the stocker and you will see the differences. You decide if it's worth the work or not.

You could make almose any column fit. But with newer vehicles the indicator for what gear your in is not on the column, it's in the dash. Rigging an indicator up would be a major P.I.T.A., I.M.H.O., T.Y.V.M.,,,,LOL

I had mine that way for a few years. It basically looked like butt. If your going to buy a column, and modify it, I highly suggest the pre '79 van tilt. I haven't done it, but it looks like the way to go for me.
