need advice on 72 Blazer lift - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

I am going to put a 6" lift on my stock 72 K5. What brand do you guys recomend, I'v been looking at the Tuff Country and for about 800.00 with shocks . This Blazer is just going to be for around town and nothing super crazy. Also I want to put 15x10 rims on it whats the right backspacing so I dont run into problems. 6" Lift is nice, I have ruff country and a 4" front 6" rear combo.
The previous owner did that to offset the weight of the top

What size tires are you planning on running? I have 35's on mine

Can't help on the rim backspacing, I just have 8" rally's on mine,
but if you go to the BLAZER section there is a 4wd thread with
alot of pic's and info on it, lots and lots of members rides to see.

I've been happy with the Tuff Country front springs that I have used. I haven't used their rear springs. You might check out www.offroaddesign.com and see what they have to offer you price wise.

With a 6" lift you may have to lengthen your front driveshaft - not sure about the rear shaft. Does your front driveshaft have a CV joint?

You also might have to lengthen/modify your emergency brake cable. Be sure to address your front rubber brake lines.

You will like a 6" lift on your K5, maybe consider a Zero-rate from Offroad Design to add 1" of rear lift to help with the saggy butt syndrome our K5's have.

here's a couple pics of my project. It's gonna take some time but i'll get it done. nothing really wrong with it just past owner lost interest in it after taking it apart. only real rust was on upper window frame, but i found a good frame at the junk yard for 40.00 and used the corner for my blazer, fit perfect. Thanks for the warm welcome to the board. I'll keep you guys posted on the progress

I pieced my lift together with 6" Superlifts on the rear & 4" Rancho plus 2" Warrior lift shackles on the front. I had 6" Skyjackers on the front, But I am much happier with the set up I have now. FYI, it is stiff as hell, however, & its not a daily driver.
