Who makes a hidden reciever hitch???
I'm looking for a Receiver hitch for my '71, but I want one that goes BEHIND the plate with the flip down/up license plate bracket. They're everywhere on the net for the 73-87 trucks. Hidden Hitch makes some, but that's just the name of the company. Anybody got a link or a part number?

Early Classic Enterprises sells a hidden hitch kit, includes receiver, flip down license bracket, ball mount and the 4way flat plug.

Re: Who makes a hidden reciever hitch???
What are the issues if you have the fuel tank mount in the back with the hidden reciever hitch? Do it go on with no problem?

Re: Who makes a hidden reciever hitch???
shouldn't interfere but they may need to share some mounting holes. I am getting ready to mount a "not so hidden" hitch and it is sitting even with my SWB rear crossmember. I will have to share holes with my rear blazer tank though... Only paid $35 so why not...
Look for a common hitch with 32" between hole centers unless you have to be 100% hidden.

Re: Who makes a hidden reciever hitch???
Thanks for the pics of the kit! I will be showing how to build your own set up here soon for "Low buck truck build". I will build the hitch from scratch (universal reciever tube) and get the lic plate flip form the pick-n-pull. I hope to keep it under $75 but we will see. Note if you are not a very good welder and have a big enough welder please just save and buy the kit as you do not want this failing with a trailer behind you. I have been building my own hitches for years with out a single porblem but please be honest with your self and safe!

Re: Who makes a hidden reciever hitch???
I have the ECE hidden hitch and a suburban rear tank on my truck. It all fits together, but it hard to access all of the bolts to get it all together. Just takes some time and GF Yoga time (GF = Garage Floor)....

Re: Who makes a hidden reciever hitch???
The ECE unit is nice but not a direct bolt on for 4X4's. Rear spring support bracket is in the way. I built my own from an 80's unit, tacked it into place and had a professional welder complete the job. (Good advice from rokcrln.)

Re: Who makes a hidden reciever hitch???
I bought an ECE Hidden Hitch for my truck and although I have no problem with the quality of the product when I finally got the time to install it and crawled under the truck I just assumed ( and at 57 I should be past assuming) that there were bolt holes in the frame for the hitch to bolt to, but not !!!! I don't have the tools to drill holes in the frame to mount the hitch so it is still sitting in the box cause I'm sure it'll cost me a 100.00 or more to get it installed.

Re: Who makes a hidden reciever hitch???
a drill and bits... even a 1/2 inch stepped bit should come in under 100 bucks.

Re: Who makes a hidden reciever hitch???
When I installed my front sway bar I went and bought a grinder to chisel off the two rivets so I could the attaching bolts through. I did manage to grind the rivets off but could not (with the truck jacked up 6 inches or so and on jackstands) laying on my back in my garage pound the rivets out. I ended up taking the truck to a shop where it took quite a bit of effort with an air chisel to get the rivets out. Now again laying on my back in my garage pushing up and trying to drill a truck frame with an electric hand drill, I dont think so !!!! Oh yea, what is a stepped bit ?

Re: Who makes a hidden reciever hitch???
I may have the wrong terminalogy, but a 1/2 inch drill bit, shanked down to a 3/8 inch drive. That way you don't need a $150 drill just to do the job.

Back to the original post. I also have an ECE hitch, on my Blazer. I installed in only a few weeks ago, after keeping it stored for about a year and a half. Really nice hitch:
