I purchased a complete lock set for the door and ignition -- BUT how do I remove the ignition cylinder w/o the original key ? I know of the small pin hole BUT can't twist the cylinder since I don't have the original key.

Any ideas !!! Haven't used the truck in months -- I'm "jonson" to drive it.

well, i'm sure theres a more logical way of doing it but the only thing that I can think of is to drill the SOB out!

I just had the same problem with my 72 , but i went a different way , a locksmith years ago told me you can pull the pass. side door lock , and have a copy made from it , it has the code stamped on it , this presumes that the ign switch is the original . It worked for me a couple of weeks ago . Oh yeah , you'll need to go to a real locksmith not the kid at Lowe's , etc.

OK, I had different keys for door and ignition but I didn't know about the code being stamped on the passenger side door lock !!

So, I guess I'm going to need to drill the old one out -- anyone ever do this, any tips / tricks / suggestions ?

personally i would just go to the parts store, and buy a new ignition switch.

The time and effort it would take to remove the old cylinder is definatley worth the $13 it would cost for a new switch.

I just changed mine last week and had to drill (chisel) the old one out. Bought a new switch, cylinder and keys, and bezel. Good as new!!
