Re: Raptor or Bowtie Overdrives?

I have used Bowtie Overdrive 700R4's in two projects and both behind big blocks. I have had no problems with them. I would recommend them. BTW, both of these transmissions were the Level 3 units.

Re: Raptor or Bowtie Overdrives?

Just my 2 cents. I have not purchased anything from Bowtie but when I called to get a quote they listened to me for 20 + mins with the 100+ questions I had and didnt complain once about it and gave me answers to. Seems like they are very customer service oriented.

Re: Raptor or Bowtie Overdrives?

I have fully researched BTO's website and am very convinced to their high level of quality and customer service. just do the TV cable excactly as they say and you wont have any problems.

Re: Raptor or Bowtie Overdrives?

I bought an El Camino BBC 3 years ago. The prev owner put one of BTO's 700R4s in it. It wasn't shifting properly, and I knew NOTHING about 700R4s, so I researched it. Found what I needed on BTO's website which I thought was quite informative, more than most.

During my research, many website posts I read (various places) were complaining/angry about BTO's lack of cust service. I think many of the comments came from improper TV adjustment. According to their website, BTO is adamant about insisting on propper TV setup or it voids any warranty.

I love their transmission, and am pleased to have in in my Elky. My only reservations are the cost up front and the TV adjustment "hassle" required to keep the warranty in place.

Re: Raptor or Bowtie Overdrives?

Don't have their tranny, but I have their TV made EZ kit and TC lock-up kits for the 700R4 in my 67. Tranny shifts great. They answered all my questions when I called about hooking up the TC kit.

Re: Raptor or Bowtie Overdrives?

I talked to the people at Bowtie at the Goodguy's car show in Scottsdale and they do not start the warranty until the project is drivable but you have to call them and they will help you get the TV adjusted.

from what I gather you call them when you do the line pressure tests and THEN they start the warranty.
