And this is a fine mess I have here

today working on my 72 swb I was looking at the front suspention with the front clip off. I seen something that realy puzzeled the daylights right out of me. And i know this is very important because of front end alinement on the truck. the point of this issue is looking and comparing both sides of the lower a-arms at the forward position of the lower A-Arms standing between the frame rails looking straight down the forward distanceof the nut on the a-arm assembly position of the A-Arm Shaft Assembly( the nut that faces the front of the truck). the nut on the left side (drivers side) has less space between the front face of the nut from the front cross member then the right A-Arm axle assembly nut. if someone can measure on thier truck what your distance ion both sides thst you have because i am pretty sure they need to be the same distance dont they?,, ohh please help. this is killing me

I cant get a measurement, but YEs they should be really close to the same measurement on both sides of the truck. It is possible to unbolt the shaft kit and turn the shaft kit 360 and move it forward or backwards. The large nut and shaft are threaded. But if I was going to that labor, I would do a little more labor and install new shaft kits on both sides and make sure the new ones are cnetered.

can someone give me a measurment from the face of the nut to the crossmember please, I have a diffrence from right to left of 1/2 inch what happened? I have no Idea but I need a good starting point to get this back can someone please measure what they ahve

I think there is a dowel in the pocket and a hole in the shaft to align. Can you tell which one is moving? If so drop it down and take a look.
