ps pump

You can use the pump, brackets and pulley from the 64 after you mod the cradle bracket, assuming the 64 is a V8 pump. The 64 cradle bracket will not clear the 8 inch balancer on the 350. You can cut the cradle to clear the balancer.

ps pump

As I said in the first reply, You can use the 64 pump set up as long as it came off a V8. You will have to cut the cradle bracket that bolts to the front of the block so it will clear the balancer. The pulley on the 64 pump is off set to match those brackets. If you start mixing pump pulleys and brackets your belt will be off. I'll post a picture of a correct truck pump for you. The truck brackets are different than the 64. They are made to clear the large balancers used on a 350 truck motor and used two different off set pulleys. 69-70 used the flat pulley p/n# ending with 537, it takes the two groove cast iron crank driver pulley for it's mate. 71-72 used a dished pulley p/n# ending with 325 and used the standard stamped steel single groove crank driver pulley for it's mate. The 61-68 car and trucks used two different bracket set ups and had two different off set pulleys. The cradle bracket is the same , they used two different adjuster brackets. If the adjuster bracket bolts in behind the cradle then it takes pulley p/n# ending with 509. If the adjuster does not go in behined the cradle it takes pulley p/n # ending with 457.
On a lot of the older pump pulleys you will find the p/n stamped on the back of the pulley. I hope this answered your questions, if not we'll try again!!
Post a picture of the pump and brackets that you have from the 64.

If you really need the correct bracket, Alan Grove makes a bracket that is almost an exact copt of the original. Click on the picture at the bottom of the page.

That must be why I had such a hard time installing my pump & bracket. I have the 71-71 style trying to put it on a 70.

the pulley i have is the same as the 71-72! the pump on the other hand is not, neither are the brackets. the return line on the pump is pointed down and inward at a 45degree angle. the brackets i have are two piece. the lower bolts to the block on the two front holes to the pump on the pivot bolt. the rear bracket bolts in behind the motor mount on the top frontand bottom hole.
too bad i dont have any way to post pics, sorry

Hey Primerbomb71, After reading your last reply I don't think you got my explanation of PS pulleys and their matching brackets. The pulley on the 64 pump is NOT the same as the 71-72 truck. They LOOK the same because they both have a dished off set but they have DIFFERENT off sets. Thats why the pulleys have different part numbers. You have to match the correct off set pulley to their matching brackets. Just because the pump from the 64 doesn't look like the truck pump doesn't mean it won't work. I'm going to post pictures of a PS pump for the 61-68 car and truck, short water pump, small balancer. Also a picture of a modified cradle bracket. Please let me know if you got all this, if not I'll try to answer your questions.

This is the second type of adjuster bracket that GM used. It bolts in behind the cradle using the same two bolt holes. This bracket set up takes a different off set pulley to compensate for the thickness of the adjuster bracket.

This is the cradle bracket for the small balancer. It has to be cut to clear the large balancers used on the 350 engines after 1968.

You can use the dished Impala PS pump pulley but you need to use the shorter ps crank pulley.the truck ones on the pump are flat and the crank pulley is taller, either one will work as long as you have matching pulleys.
