I was wondering if this truck http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...071927072&rd=1
Would be worth $4,500 it is about a 150 miles from me.It would be my first drivable truck.I dont think i wil have any long trips. So is it worth it

Re: Should I Buy?
That is a good looking truck! I would go look at it and then see if you can snipe it for a price within your budget.

Re: Should I Buy?
Looks like a sweet ride. I'd definitely check it out in person. Pics can be deceiving at times.

Re: Should I Buy?
There looks to be a fair amount of damage to the front bumper, fender and hood. I'd look it over in person, but it looks like it would be a good buy for 3K. The current bid is 2,550, it could go for 3K?

Re: Should I Buy?
did anyone look at the additional pics. that thing has a lot of rust that shows in the pics, i wonder whats under it. also looks like a dealer prep and shine on the engine. i think some of our members have trucks for sale that are a safer and better deal for the money. but its just my opinion. pkj

Re: Should I Buy?
yeah i noticed the additional photos after i posted this so now i am leaning toward the gmc in the local paper.I talked to the owner he said the motor has been rebuilt in the past 5000 miles as well as new paint and tranny.I am going to go look at it tomorrow.

Re: Should I Buy?
keep an eye out for what our members are selling. i have never had but the best experiences buying from them. good honest people. you buy a truck from them and they will take you under there wing. you will know what you are buying. theres a 72 for sale in the parts section guy wants 10k. alot more then you are looking to spend, but the truck is incredable and worth twice that in my opinion. take your time before buying. these trucks are a long term commitment.

Re: Should I Buy?
hmm, street rims and tires, tach bolted to dash, and a little body damage = driven hard! Plus the bed has a modified steel plate installed... I'd give $2-3K if it's running good but that's it. Hard to tell what's hiding under "new paint". my 2 cents...

Re: Should I Buy?
I see nothing in the ad to verify mileage unless I missed it. Damage on fender is hard to fix. The rust at lower door and just inside bed looks like it's been somewhere collecting moisture. I think you have a lot of rust that is not showing.........floors, under bed, etc. There are better trucks out there.....for about your range...........I will agree it looks good at 20 feet. I agree with others.........go look at it or get your questions in before you bid. Seller looks to be honest based on feedback. Note $150 sales fee too.

Re: Should I Buy?
I'm an experienced EBayer and this seller has only 18 feedbacks in the last 6 years, although they are all positive.. The high bidder right now is a new bidder on Ebay with no feedbacks and just signed on last week. I've run into this on Ebay before when I've been interested in a vehicle and was bidding when a new bidder will start bidding on a the vehicle and I think its just a buddy of the seller that got an identity so they could bump the bid on you..This seller is also a dealer and his idea of a mint truck is shiny paint and chrome valve covers and he is just (IMO) trying to cash in on the popularity of our trucks cause he thinks someone will get a woody for the truck and pay stupid money. Car dealers are all about making money ,nothing else, I know because I was in the car business for 25 years but got out 6 years ago.
I think the best advice has already been given to you. Find a board members truck or a private deal where the seller is interested in selling their truck not seeing how much gross profit they can make. Lastly I wouldn't buy anything without personally inspecting it or have someone look at it for you..

Re: Should I Buy?
I have to agree the more i thought about this and read the description the more i didn't want this truck.Tonight i am going to look at a 1972 gmc with
82,000 miles ,professionaly rebuilt 350 that has "no rust", and working a/c for 5,200.Maybe i could get it for 4,800 and use the other 400 for resgistration and all that. Plus it is 18 miles from me. We'll see. I will try to get pics to post.

Re: Should I Buy?
looks like a rusty POS to me, not to mention it's a long bed and those seem to be given away lately, but that isn't a trend likely to continue for much longer. Anyway, you can buy a much much better long bed for $4,500, probably a good short bed as well.
Did you look on the board for Trucks for sale? I know there are a few good deals in there. |

Re: Should I Buy?
dude... I'm in ohio too, I know the rust we deal with, and the fact that most of the ohio trucks have disolved and returned to mother earth.
If I had 5 grand to spend, I'd look out west, and buy a $3800 truck, and spend the other 1200 in transporting. You'll be WAY ahead in the long run. Only look for beaters in the rust belt. When you have a good chunk of chainge to buy with, you are looking for a good vehicle, not a rusty pile of crap. With the internet, there is absolutly no reason to buy ohio junk. |
