Emmisions equipment?
Does as anyone know what smog equipment came on a 1981 GMC crewcab 1ton 4x4? it ahs a 454,th400.np205 and is a dually.My guess is that its rated at 10,000 GVW.Thanks

81 was still early for emmission equipment so im gonna say probably only a air injection pump, EGR, fuel evap canister sys, and a catalitic converter.

Well, the information that I have(Chilton's online database) states that all 4X4's with a GVW over 8500 lbs is considered "heavy duty" and will have fewer emission controls than one with less than 8500 lbs. I don't have a vac hose diagram for an 81 because they are supposed to be on a sticker under the hood. If you still have this sticker you can tell what kind of equipment was supposed to be there and its vac hose routing.

If it has the "heavy duty emissions" code in the glove box, it may not have come with the cat. My '85 did not, but I have 2 air pumps(removed).
