identifying valves
I am about to attempt a valve adjustment. I know this is a stupid question, but how do you identify the intake valves from the exhaust valves on a v8 with headers? thanks guys for all your expertise!

Re: identifying valves
Front of head=E-I-I-E-E-I-I-E
works for both heads

Re: identifying valves
Not a dumb question at all. Jhow66 is right on (as always). The other way to tell is just look for the valve that's aligned with the runners on the intake or the exhaust port - they're lined right up.

Re: identifying valves
Just a stupid question but what kind of cam do you have? Do you have a solid cam? Doesn't make a difference as far as adjustment procedures.

Re: identifying valves
I am working on a small block. My motor is actually a 305 donated from a 76 Camaro. As far as the cam I have no idea. How can you tell? I am a novice when it comes to the internal motor, but am excited about learning more thanks to all of your input!
Thanks Rick |
