raise the front end??
hey guys sorry i havent had too much time to get on here.. but i have a question... my 79 1/2 ton is stock and the front end sits like 2 or 3 inches lower than th rear.. i was thinking of putting some 3/4 ton coils in the front end would that raise it enough to make it sit level? any feedback is much appreciated!
thank you dana |

Re: raise the front end??
I think pretty much all 1/2 tons had that stance from the factory. Its to compensate for when you have a load in the bed - it will sit level when loaded.
You could probably do something to the front to get it to sit level un-loaded but most people do the opposite and get drop shackles or hangers for the back to bring it down. Although I have seen a lot of lifted 2wd's from CA. The desert racer look. Quote:

That's what I'm doing...I got some 3/4 ton coils from a fellow member on here, but I've had no time to put them on.

Re: raise the front end??
You know, there is a guy in the Blazer/Suburban forum from I think Florida that just lowered his 2wd Blazer. It previuosly had I think a 2" or 3" lift on it.
I bet he could fill you in and maybe even have the parts available to do what you want. His name is JESSEGALLEGOS. *EDIT* - heres the threads where he talks about what it is and one with a picture of it with the lift on it.

Re: raise the front end??
I put in the HD coils. I got maybe 1.5" more at the tops of the fender wells after it was all settled it. I guess it all depends on how much you current springs are sagging.

Re: raise the front end??
BBC springs are worth 2"s or so. They also make lift spindles. Search ebay or get yourself a "truckin" mag. and look thru the adds.

Re: raise the front end??
for the '79 2wd I don't think anyone makes lift spindles no more, at least that's what the folks at FSC told me some time back

Re: raise the front end??
no dice on the lift spindles... I've looked. AIM used to make them, but I'm sure they were junk just like the rest of their "products."
