Here some better pics of my '68 shortbed

I recently put some round mirrors on and I'm thinking of lowering the rear another inch or two. Also thinking about switching from the 8" truck rallys to a set of 10" vette style rallys. Let me know what you guys think. It's a 350 in it, but it is originally a 327 truck. Hope these are better.

Gorgeous truck.. I agree about the exhaust tips , other than that I'd just enjoy driving her the way she is.

Re: Here some better pics of my '68 shortbed

I actually cut the exhaust pipes off! I'm going to replace with some stainless. Debating on whether to keep the ram heads or get some headers. I think it would look cool to have the pipes dump out right behind the rear wheel, much like the old Camaro's had. Like a dump pipe.

Re: Here some better pics of my '68 shortbed

Did you install the 69 7 up tail light trim, or is that a previouse owner's doing? Either way, i've always liked them better... same with the side markers. The base model and 68 style look booring.
Personally, I would leave it alone, the rims are classic and some of the best looking low key improvements that can be done. Your stance is dead on too.
You could pimp it out with some torque thrusts in an 18 x 10 or so, (which would look sweet) but what you have right there, is a timeless classic that would liik sweet in '87, '97, '07, and well into the future too.

*edit* This may well be one of my favorite trucks on this board.

Funny you should ask about the taillight trim...

They are the only trim pieces that are not original. The previous owner thought (much like yourself) that the trim on the 68 was just "not enough." BTW, does anyone know if stainless trim can be chromed or reconditioned? I will be painting my truck (original blue) sometime in the next year or two. The paint is FAR from perfect and looks good from afar, but has MANY imperfections. I would REALLY like to keep all the original trim pieces if possible. Thanks for all of your kind comments!!!

If it will conduct electricity it can be chromed.
PS I love your truck!

Re: Here some better pics of my '68 shortbed

Hey Jeff1vol, I agree with Longhorn Man. If you did anything with wheels I would go with a bigger diameter wheel like 18's. And for headers, I wouldn't ram horn manifolds perform well enough.
MY 2 cents

Dumping in the front of the rear wheel does look cooler imo and my 69 is like that,(was on it when I got 5 years ago) but doing that puts the mufflers right under the back of the cab creating quite a bit resonance(sp) it is LOUD in the cab and REALLY LOUD on the highway. I have Flowmaster super 40 3 chamber with ramshorns.

BTW the truck is beaitiful!!! I would just drive it!!

Jeffvol1 that is a absolutely stunning truck, I wish it could be mine! I had one question though, what kind of drop was used on the front and rear of that truck? because that stance is perfect IMO.

That' a really nice truck you have there Jeff. i wouldn't touch a thing except repaint the same color. (IMO the stock 68 white face looks really classy on a dark truck.) Stock ram's horns are a work of cast iron art the way they are.
