Inner Fender to fender bolts

How do you get them out? They're just spinning around for me?

just put a vise grips on the nuts and hold it then either tighten the bolt till it twists off or back the bolts out.

is the fender on or off the truck?
i could seem to reach them even when they were on the truck, but then again im a scrawny 18 year old so that may be the difference

Re: Inner Fender to fender bolts

Cant I just unbolt the inner fender and take it off with the fender? The only bad thing is, the bottom bolt on the fender is spinning too.

Lets see no air tools or grinder time to get out the hack saw on those bolts.

Re: Inner Fender to fender bolts

The good thing is, I'm doing a 68 Frontend conversion with all new sheetmetal from goodmark and lmc, so the front sheetmetal is prettymuch disposible, I just didnt want to have a super pain in the ass to get it off.

The bottom rear bolt on both fenders are stuck to the cab... They spin freely, wont budge. Everything is gone but the fenders.

Re: Inner Fender to fender bolts

You may not be looking at the right bolt for the attachement of the fender to the cab. There is one bolt that attaches the fender to the inner fender with one of those clippy deals that commonly breaks and spins. This bolt points from the ground to the sky and takes a 1/2" socket. The bolt that you are interested in points to your neighbors and does not involve one of those nuts with the clips that break. I believe that it is a 9/16" socket. There is really no way for it to just spin.

Before you install your new sheet metal, invest in some new hardware so it will be easier next time. My 2 cents

Re: Inner Fender to fender bolts

Hack saw blade. I take the blade and slide it between the fender and inner fender and cut it off. Takes time but works. I have had to do this at junk yards and when my compresor was down. By the way go to big lots and buy a huge pack of hack saw blades for like 5 bucks. Has 15 in each pack. Cause trust me you are going to destroy a few.

Re: Inner Fender to fender bolts

Who sells the the clips? Brothers list something called "J" nuts, are those what I need?

I am doing a '67 front end swap and my old clip broke coming off and the ones on '67 fenders are long gone.

Ford Assasin, this thread is old but I can tell you that most if not all of the BB vendors carry a complete front clip bolt kit.If you can't find one check with board member/vendor Tim Christian.I know he carries them.
