Talking Chromed glovebox door.

I've been searching for over a year for a CHROMED glovebox door and A guy came into the store the other day he got out of a nice 70 long wide box, We of course started shooting the bull and i went to take a gander at his truck, he had a chromed glovebox door. I commented on how I liked it and he said he had a brand new spare he had done for another project that never got off the ground.
He sold it to me for $25.00 + my old one..

I'm a lucky dog,lucky dog. I found a bone !!!

along with defroster vents too.
Since my door isn't in perfect shape, and it is a b!tch to keep clean, I'm going to scuff the inlay portion and paint it black, leaving the outer edge chrome.

Thumbs up

You could get 2, then paint them both black on the inside, use one for a door, and the other as a guage bezel, cut some holes, and install some trick guages.

I haven't seen the actual chromed glove box door for sale anywhere....I always thought you had to have one done. The guy I got this one from had "TUCKERS" in VEGAS send his out.

I have seen the stainless inserts and the billet aluminum different places, but look on E-bay. there is always the ashtray inserts, dash bezel inserts and glove box inserts at very reasonable prices.

ANDY,
I'm going to do the same thing with my glovebox door. I have always really admired the dash bezel, black insert and chrome outer but I always thought it looked off center having the glove box door painted on the edge and the chrome on the dash bezel. So now I'll paint the insert "wrinkle black" and I tore the heck up out of the center portion of my dash, (I hate ash trays and I like cd players) so I made a aluminum piece like the dash bezel and glove box door but upside down. Now I'll paint that wrinkle black also and everything will match>>>>>>>>> IN MY EYES ANYWAY.. and those are the only ones that count to me hehehe.

Are you guys crazy? If you paint the inside of the chome glove box door you wont be able to see up the skirt of the girl ridding with you. And, that after all is why the very first one got chromed in the first place. So, don't waist the paint and enjoy the benifits as they come. Ladies I'm just kiddin if you read this. Joker69

Sorry bout that man...I suffer teribly from CRS. (can't remember sh!t)
Actually, I slapped that thing on the GMC and haven't even thought about the rust, it's not like there is a glove BOX in there...it is just a door to access my header controls!
mikep...I am interested, but probably won't be able to participate. Can you give me a holler on a quite for an ashtray? I could have mine sand blasted before sending it to you...

BIG ORANGE,

I saw one a few months back. It was on a rusted hulk of a '67. It had seen better days but it was an intriguing idea. I'll ask at the chromer how much just for the hell of it.

BTW this is how my first marriage got started. Her dad owned a chrome shop and I sold my soul for chrome! I would not want to be 20 again!
