oil pans
are the oil pan on a 78 c-10 and a 71 the same? reason i'm asking is i have a 305 out of a 78 i am going to build and the oilp pan in in better shape then mine

73 is the latest my computer shows as direct fitment. The later models may be similar though.

I had an 80/81 305 in my 69, so there should not be a probleb. Consideringt the front cross members interchange up to 87 between the vehicles would probably indicate that the engine will drop in without a problem.

My engine was puled from a '75 and was a straight bolt in. The heads are different, but the oil pan fit without issue. Not sure if the gasket was different, but I didn't have any issues with it in my '69.
