Poor shorty
I was doing my usual look on ebay and stumbled across this truck. Now usually i am not even looking at these trucks on ebay as i tend to droll over 1970 GTO's (some day) But i spotted this 84 shorty that is in need of some loving. I am not trying to put this as an "Ebay find" but rather i was wondering a few things about it and thought you guys might have an answer. Now from the outside it is not that bad of a looking truck with the sport bumper and all but the interor makes my head hurt. My question is this... why are the wheels so far out. I know that non of you built it so it is hard to say, but i have seen this done before. is it soully for the look? Look alittle goofy to me. IS it just done with rim backspacing and or spacers?
thanks for any insight http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1984-...QQcmdZViewItem

Re: Poor shorty
Yep, the backspacing of the wheels is what's making them stick out so far. They must have been smokin' some good stuff when they put that interior together.....

Re: Poor shorty
That interior looks like the dog van from Dumb and Dumber.
The crazy backspacing look doesn't suit our era trucks very well. I like it on the 88-98s and on little bitty old school SUVs like Geo or Suzuki.

Wow, all that poorly spent money in the cab and not a nickel thrown at the engine compartment...im shocked. That "dome" light is killing me. I keep expecting to see some strip lighting.

Re: Poor shorty
Well i think it has alot of potental but ahh well. Oh i got another question for yall. When i was driving on rt28 in salem NH i stumbled across an 84 chevy c10 that looked just like my truck but it was a short bed and had a red interior and cragers. So okay it was not "just like mine" but it is the closest i have seen locally. Any ways he had them same chrome circles on the tail lights that this guy has. What is up with them things? the one on the truck near me the inside of the circle is a purple color. i know lmc sells them. Is it just to tint your lights or somthing?? Also the truck near me has a lun lighted visor and i gotta say i thought it looked alright on a black truck but i could never bring myself to drill them holes.

Re: Poor shorty
84 400, unfortunately there are several like that truck here in phoenix, tires with not enough back spacing, but then there are several really nices ones here that appear on craigslist everyday, just wished i had the space and time to start a collection or even a used parts area for the 73-87 trucks.

Re: Poor shorty
i know it could look good. and with how disirable the shortys seem to be it would be worth fixing. Any ideas on those circles on the tail lights??
thanks

Re: Poor shorty

Re: Poor shorty
Blue dot's are just that. Drill a hole insert the blue lens. Real blue dots were glass werent they? I do like how they look, best on the tail lights of a 57 Chevy.
They are not 50 state legal for a couple of reasons, some states have issue with the blue color and or the fact that the hole you put in the tail light lense might be removing the reflector portion. In the case of the 57 Chevy tail light lens, it takes the whole reflector out. It is most defininately a 50's custom thing.

Did anybody notice that the seat is actually covered by a seatcover. If the person did all of the work on their own, then kudos to them. I also think when you pour that much of your soul into something you should keep it for life. IT'S LIKE FAR OUT MAAAAAAAN!

Unfortunately that look was huge for a while here in Texas amongst the hispanic crowd. Thank God they have moved on to something better now. They like spinning hubcaps instead...

Re: Poor shorty
84 400,
Make sure you wipe off your keyboard and monitor when you are done. It's not mine, a friend let me take it to a car show in May of 2006. It is a running machine, has a built 455 with a T.H. 400.

Re: Poor shorty
The car is a true '70 GTO JUDGE with the 455 H.O. and 400 trans. It had a rotisserie restoration and the only thing changed was the exterior color and interior color. It was the gold with black interior. He had it appraised at $86,000.00 dollars. I had a '67 GTO that I sold 2 years ago, my favorite is the '65 which will be my next car purchase. I am constantly looking for the right one. Triple black convertable with the 389 tripower and a 4-speed. Me and you seem to have a tiger in our tanks. I love GTO's.
P.S. Did I show you that car before?

Re: Poor shorty
I had a '70 Judge just like that. I bought it back in '76. Gave $1250.00 for it. It had a 455 in it also. It would pull the front wheels off the ground. It was sweet.Ram Air, 4 speed Muncie w/ Hurst shifter. Had it for 13 years, traded it in on a Volkswagon Vanagon. Sure miss it. Same color and everything. Dang!!!
