Column Shifter rattling

Anyone had a auto column shifter rattle? Mine is driving me crazy, sounds like the inner rod that runs the length of the column is rattling. The rattle goes away if I rest my hand on the shifter.

Is there an easy fix?

Re: Column Shifter rattling

if theres a spring down on the end of the column, maybe check to see if that has tension on it.. I had one that had a loose spring, and it didnt rattle like you say, but it was sloppy, and after fiddling with it for way too long (not the right tools) i got the spring so that it held tension really tight against the bearing and it helped out a lot. This probably wont help you much, but Its worth a shot anyway.
