could be build-up of gunk in your wheel cylinder preventing the cup/plunger from returning after you apply the brakes. Could also be weak brake shoe return springs...
I'd replace the wheel cylinder and put in a new brake spring kit... might as well do both sides so they're both fresh, can't hurt... could also be improperly adjusted e-brake cable as well.... ------------------ '72 short step, 350, 700R4, tilt, ps, pdb, a/c, lowered coils, etc., other work in progress... My '69 definetly wears the driver side more than the other side and I used to have problems with it locking up after a nice ride. I have replaced parking brake cables, even replace the driver side twice. I put in new springs twice. I too am at a loss as to what's causing this. Last year I had to swap my brake shoes side to side to get some decent mileage out of them. I used to have a '69 4X4 Blazer that did the same thing. If you raise the tire off the ground, the brakes feel free. ???????????????????? ------------------ 63 Impala*66 Chevelle SS*69 Chevelle*69 C10 Stepside*71 Cheyenne 20*72 Chevelle Parts for sale: http://www.angelfire.com/trek/mr409/items4sale.html

check the little 'star' adjustment wheel,
if the teeth are worn, it will over adjust make the lines wear. the thing is at the bottom between the shoes. ------------------ 71 Chevy C-10 SWB Fleetside WAS:307w/3-on-the-tree NOW:350TBI/700R4/3.73 See it at www.prismnet.com/~grzanich

I think if the teeth on the star adjuster were worn that would cause the shoes to back off. I would say that eather they are over adjusted or you have groves in the backing plate where the shoes ride
