sway bar install

was thinkin' 'bout installing one ,got to lookin' under mine and noticed that i didn't have one. i unnerstand how it attaches to the frame,how about how it attaches to the lower control arm.i got a MANUAL!brake drum setup if that helps any.did the factory 6 banger trucks not come w/a factory sway bar?thanks all.

It attaches to the front control arms with "u" shaped clamps with a rubber or poly bushing inside, they mount on they flat part in front of the spring.

The best thing to do is to go to the junkyard and find a truck with one on it and you'll see exactly how it mounts. (you'll need it anyway so grab it while your there) The brackets are riveted on so you will need to cut them off or have them cut off. New ones are available to avoid that step. Just use bolts to re-install.

The trucks up to around '87 (correct?) are all the same and very easy to find. Check the 2 wheel drive 3/4-1 ton trucks.

Alot of these trucks didn't have the sway bar but no harm in adding one. My '69 stepside doesn't have one. (someday it will)

thanks guys!i'll check a local yard for one. just did'nt remember how it mounted to the lower control arm.i'll double ck. to see if i have the drilled holes already in lwr.cntl. arms.i did see the holes in the frame in the proper location,though.thanks again!!
