nothing to do with our trucks

My buddy threw a rod in his 98 cherokee 4.0L HO. This weekend i am helping him put a new engine in, nothing special just a replacement crate motor. Now I've never done a fuel injected engine swap and I am wondering if there is anything i should know??? Im scared of getting the motor in and then having an electical nightmare with it not starting. any adivce is appreciated.
Thanks, Travis

Re: nothing to do with our trucks

most important thing....

Label EVERYTHING as you remove it!!!

otherwise it should be a straightforward swap.

There’s going to be some adjustable sensors that you will want to avoid moving… the throttle position sensor. you will most likely be swapping the intake over so shouldn’t be an issue. You are going to have to transfer the cam angle sensor if it has one. If it does you will need to put it at about the same position. You will adjust that when you set the timing.
That’s all I can think of now.

One word of caution- The fuel line will be under some pressure. So don’t get in a hurry and get fuel in you eyes. I don’t think you’ll have any problems. But if you do just Google whatever you have trouble with there’s tons of info on those. They seem quite popular and the info should be abundant.
Good luck.

Go to pirate4x4.com and go in there jeep section for newbies and ask away with your questions there. Now i will tell you those 4.0's are a pain in the butt to pull out. Ive done it once.... So you know. leave the tranny and t-case in the jeep.
Good Luck.
