Oh yeah. '68 C20 'Burb, 327 400. I got it off the guy who bought it new, and he swears he never did a thing under the hood BUT check it out, in the picture where you can see front of the heads, it has two different kinds



Here another weird deal. Look closley at the front crossmember. The lower rivet on the driver's side didn't take. The rivet is there, but it only went through the crossmember. It missed the hole in the frame.

Pritch, Thanks for those pics...great reference. I can believe that he never did anything to it...that is more dust accumulation than I have ever seen...LOL! I got at least three really good tips about where some of those parts go. Now I have never seen that type of plug shield. Maybe I will have another look at mine. I thought it was just bent up but maybe that is a stock deal.

I am still wondering what happened to the heat stove for the air cleaner though.

maybe he didn't do anything to modify it. he might have had work done on it like a new head.

if you look on the back side of the passenger head those holes should be there.

so with swaping the heads one for the other the mounting holes wind up on the drivers side.

if you take the valve covers off and look at the casting numbers both numbers should be the same.. let us know..

and thanks for posting these pictures. i have seen a few members that can't get there power steering pump fill cap off..this may be the alt. brackets that they were missing. that got changed at one time. we were trying to figure out what happened. these brackets would solve that problem..

It is interesting to see that alternator mount. I am more famililar with the cast piece and the upper strap. I do not have any of the 2 strap types. Are both correct?

Looks exactly like what I have pulled down in my garage right now...... 68 327/400 ......

I checked those head numbers and sure enough, 2 different heads. the one with the mounting holes is 394881 and the other is 3811032. If they did switch heads at some point it wasn't for those mounting holes, it looks like nothing has ever been bolted up to them.

Look at the 5th picture. I think that plug shield is like that to protect the temp. gage sender.
