62 Suburban
Hi folks,
I dont have a 60-66, but have always thought they were cool trucks since as a kid my pa had a 60 GMC Suburban. The stuff I have at this time is a little newer. A guy I work with has this 62 napco that is almost completely unmolested, an old Black Hills forest service truck. It is one of the neatest ol survivors I have ever seen! I'm not trying to help him sell it or anything, cause if it ever came up for sale I'm gonna be first in line for it, but he dont want to sell it----bummer! Just thought yall might like to see the ol girl! Later---DAC

Thanks for sharing that with us. Looks like it even has some cool old plates on it.

Re: 62 Suburban
I think that is what mine originally looked like. It has dark green on the firewall, but now it's flat black and off white top. Someday I will get it going. FYI, GM started to make their own 4wd in 60, Napco's were the 1 ton stuff.

Re: 62 Suburban
Hello folks,
Yah its a purty sweet ol truck. Be better yet if it was mine tho! Darn good eye on the plates desertrat, altho they arent old they are historical plates. Like 20 bucks a year or something. Lots of restrictions on when you can drive tho. I'd rather pay the 40ish bucks a year and have no restrictions. My 72 3/4 ton pickup is $42 a year. b454rat-thanks for that napco info. The owner said its a napco, and I thot that there was 1/2 ton napco stuff out there till 67 or 68. Cool to come over here and learn some new stuff!

Re: 62 Suburban
GM used Napco for all 4wd till 59, maybe 60, then they did their own after that, less the 1 tons. Something I didn't know, Napco made the 1 tons till 72.....

Re: 62 Suburban
Hi everyone,
I have a suburban tailgate and hatch for that green machine if you want to loose the barn doors. Let me know. Tony from Norcal. |

Re: 62 Suburban
That's really cool! Original 4x4s are hard to come by in good shape. I spent several years looking for the "right" Burb and settled on my '66. I Really prefer the wrap around winshield of the older modles though.
