Re: Anyone have a "clean" engine compartment with A/C?

Here's mine. Stock 78 305 2 barrel, factory AC, nothing new other than belts. About 18,500 miles on her at the time of picture:

There is some splatter now on the left side fender, I think my AC Compressor has a seal leak. I haven't gotten anymore liquid spraying on the fender, mainly because I haven't used my AC again!

You can see the splatter on the bottom right of that pic!

The headers are aftermarket and rusty, I think the gaskets are leaking ever so slightly...

That engine compartment does indeed look nice, but I was wondering more along the lines of this:
http://sfbay.craigslist.org/pen/car/266721081.html
is it possible to have A/C and have the engine compartment as clean as that one?

My pic was stock, that link is very nice but it's an aftermarket crate motor. So I guess that if you clean up the bay and throw in a crate 350, yup, you can have that look

Do you need to get a crate to be able to run that type of air filter?

You can detail anything and make it look better. Here are some pics of my 77 in various stages.

This is how it was when I bought it.

This is how it looked after I cleaned things up a bit and added a few pieces of chrome.

Re: Anyone have a "clean" engine compartment with A/C?

I can't leave anything alone, so I decided to add some poslished LT1 valve covers, and a ribbed air cleaner. I also installed a bit more chrome.

Re: Anyone have a "clean" engine compartment with A/C?

That lasted for a while, but I got bored again. When the old motor started sucking gas and blowing smoke I decided it was time for a "real" upgrade...

OEM with just a touch of chrome looks the best

Re: Anyone have a "clean" engine compartment with A/C?

Sure is pretty. I like both of the stages it went threw. My 85 look as factory as it could under the hood. Before I bought someone had put a crate motor in it. They took out the 305 and put another 305 back in it. I wish I could have known who the guy was at the time and convinced him to put in a 350.

Re: Anyone have a "clean" engine compartment with A/C?

Are you talking about the ones on the RamJet? Those came from Bills Hotrod Garage. They are very well built, come complete with everything you need, and are very fair priced. I highly recommend them.
