What did you get done-01/28
I had the weekend off and had great plans but unfortunately they didn't all happen. Oh well, sometimes we get side tracked with family events and have to forsake our other plans.
I did get my daily drivers cleaned up so I accomplished something truck related. I spent most of Saturday cleaning my garage and storing Christmas decorations. Once I got them packed away, I focused on replacing my garage door opener that died. It took a few hours working by myself but I got it done. I programmed all the openers and installed a wireless key pad as well. It doesn't sound like much but I was glad to have it done. What did you get done?

Otherwise, I worked today (sunday).

Cleaned up my yard this weekend. We had a ice storm here in Missouri I'm sure everyone heard about. I lost a few trees and without power for 1 week.

Signed into Airborne school Friday...
Cleaned the truck Saturday, then it rained. Tried to talk to a place about buying a Gaylord Lid and Bed Rug, but it seems people just don't want to do business! Having trouble with that one...

Re: What did you get done-01/28
Rested on Sat (worked 31hrs Thurs/Fri). Today I got out & created templates for my 'new' shock brackets for my ART front lower control arms.
I made a template that I was satisfied with & began cutting up some scrap 3/16" steel for the brackets when I decided to see how well my work gloves protected my skin vs. the cut-off wheel. The cut-off wheel won . . .... The doc wouldn't stitch me up because part of the shattered cut-off wheel is still imbedded in the tissue. He wants me to go see a hand surgeon tomorrow. 3hrs later I was back out in the driveway finishing up the cuts (brackets, not fingers) & of course I had my hand wrapped in plastic to keep it sanitary .

Re: What did you get done-01/28
Didn't get a whole lot done, just stole some parts off the shortbox and the 87 burb before they go to the scrappers. Only keeping the shortbox frame and the boxes of goodies that came with it. Other wise for the rest of the weekend I was tied up with snowmobiling and some college junk too.

also thursday we got the motor out of the capri, friday i went to school of course, then saturday i wrote an essay for school( i was gonna help a buddy out with putting a transmission in a stang, but he had already done that)so i went back over there saturday night, and tested the tps sensor on his 98 gsxr 750, and then went home, and then went to church today, and went to eat, and i told my other friend that he needed to pay me, i sold him some wheels over a year ago and he never finished paying for the other half, i am tired of his crap so i will get the money within the next week, anyways here is a pretty crappy pic of the capri also put the stang back up for sale, put my buddys 93 camaro for sale, fixing to list a buddys mustang for sale, and then put my friends moms car in auto trader for sale, i guess i must sell stuff pretty good?

Re: What did you get done-01/28
Started welding for the first time in my life...lots of fun, but need lots more practice. I did manage to weld the tabs to my shifter base, as well as the retaining nuts on the underside for the shifter itself...turned out real well! Went to install the shifter and all it's components Sunday only to find out I need a longer cable. I ordered it, should be here in a couple days.
Once the shifter is installed, the engine is pretty much ready to fire for the very first time! I am getting real excited!

Re: What did you get done-01/28
I helped my buddy with his '94 pickup for a little while on Saturday. Took my other buddys honda to the car wash and my moms car after that today. Cleaned my Cavy out yesterday too. Other then that just did alot of chores and minor stuff. Nothing really car or truck related.

Re: What did you get done-01/28
Did an oil change on my 78 stepside DD on Saturday. Drove it to Lowe's to pick up some stuff for my house Sunday night.
Went out this morning to fire it up to go to work, and it won't even turn over. It was cold, so maybe the starter's frozen? I live in TN, so I have no idea if it's even possible for a starter to freeze. Can that happen? It had plenty of juice in the battery to make the lights bright and everything. I guess I'm gonna try it again later when it warms up some. Weird. EDIT: Went out a few minutes ago and it fired right up. Must've been frozen. Never knew that could happen.

Re: What did you get done-01/28
I spent a good part of the week with my FIL at the hospital. He is still in pretty bad shape, but got out Sunday morning, so that's good.
I went Saturday morning to the the junkyard and got the manifolds I posted about last week. Someone else had started pulling them, but quit. They had already disconnected them from the exhaust system under the truck, so that was a big help. I cleaned them up yesterday. They are supposed to be stainless, but they are still ugly. A friend who is a GM mechanic says they put just enough stuff in the alloy to keep them from rotting out. They still ought to be better than the 305 manifolds, though. They look like this: I haven't been driving the truck for the last week. I have needed to work on it, but the weather was uncooperative, and I had to work on the house. I have a noise under acceleration that is driving me crazy. I sounds like an exhaust leak, but I can't find anything leaking. I spent a couple of hours on it yesterday, but I still don't know any more than I did when I started. I also had to do some painting (priming, really) on the house. Squirrels chewed a hole up under the eaves, built a nest, and made some wood rot out. I had the fun experience of removing the rotted wood and the nest, and replaced the wood last weekend during a lull in the rain. I caulked it in the dark one night this week after work, and got to prime it on Sunday. I'll either paint it one night this week in the dark, or wait until next weekend. Oh, the joys of being a homeowner... Slonaker |

Nothing here... Another weekend where a bunch of parts went uninstalled.
I am about to pay a shop just to get my headers on, because I just don't know when in the world I would do it myself.

Friday, my kid birthday gifted me a engine stand for the project 350 in the garage. Picked that up and mounted the engine to it. Ate some awesome ribeye on Friday and some deadly cake. - Dave

Re: What did you get done-01/28
I got stuck working all weekend but got the POS car done and out of my life. I'm never doing a FREE engine again!
I ordered some new carpet from GMCpaul so it should be in this week! I'm going to do some much needed drilling on my truck today, the belltech lowering kit dident have the proper size holes for my stock spring bolts so I used some smaller ones as a temp fix. Hopefully my bushings are still intact. Next couple of weeks I'm going to start the BB build. 1998 Vortec 454, 4 bolt main caps all around. Still deciding how far I want to go with it but I guess if the crank is salvageable that will help in the $$$$$$.
