Talking Have a goal to meet....

Well,I was moving quickly along on my swb 4x4 build but its came to a stop as I dont have my transmission back yet,my motor hasnt been dissassembled to be bored and put back together, and I dont have the chassis ready for the drivetrain. My original goal was to have it running by my birthday on Feb 18th but that goal wont be accomplished .The new goal is to have the chassis done which includes getting the axles back together, finish the lift kit install and put the complete body back on the truck so I can see it as a truck which I havent seen since July of last year.About half of the truck is flat black, one door is yellow, and the bed is in primer..It may be ugly looking but hopefully it looks like a truck on Feb 18th,as in the body will be completly on but the motor, tranny, and t case will be out. Stay tuned!
This is the most current pic I have, except the axles are apart and the garage is messy

Good Luck with your Goal, Speaking from experience i know it is frustrating when things don't come toghether. I had planned on having the motor in Wrecker over the weekend, Since Im doing it all outside & the weather was so bad i did'nt make it...........................

Re: Have a goal to meet....

Don't get in too big of a hurry. Have you cleaned/painted or undercoated the underbelly of the cab and bed? It would be a lot more work in the future to have to remove the bed and cab again (you can always do the front clip later.)

I started my truck in Feb. 06. (I REALLY started it September 1996 ) I had planned on a quicky paint job and new tranny and I wanted it done by July 4th.

That turned into new fenders and doors, all new chrome, lots of sanding and paint. New goal was September.

Somewhere along the way my dog had to have almost 1K in surgury. There goes the 700R4 money

New goal. October. Finally saved enough $$$ for tranny, put it in the truck. I had conflicts many weekends before I could finally finish the light wiring and button up stuff to make her raod worthy.

Got it on the road in mid November. I've put about 600 miles on it since then.

Best of luck

Re: Have a goal to meet....

I plan on pulling all the body back off so its easy to shove the motor and tranny and transfer case in the truck.Lots of room to work.I will probably do the body repair once I get it on the chassis now,so when I pull the cab so the motor can go in I can paint the firewall.I need a new metal floor for the shortbed so I wont be doing much there until I find one.I use a tractor to put the body on,so I am not concerned about removing the body from the frame several times.

Thanks for the luck,I will need it....
I should have the axles done this weekend.Maybe get the cab and bed on this weekend depending on how cold it is.
