Like these?
The first picture is a 99-95 L19 7.4L with the stamped steel brackets. The second picture is a 96-00 L29 7.4L with the cast iron brackets. These are much stronger than the L19 and allows for a much better A/C compressor and bigger 124 AMP alternator. I run these brackets and accessories on my Gen VI in my '78 K10.

You might be if you’re not running an A/C compressor.

Re: Anyone with a early 90's 7.4 in there truck?
You can go to your dealer and look up a 97 3/4 ton BBC truck and they can print a copy of the exploded view with all the parts and part #'s. I had a 72 454 in my 97 2wd 1/2 ton truck with this set up on it, and I got the idea from looking through the parts guys picts. alot of those parts are available through Autozone and March Pulleys, so I used aftermarket where I could and OE where I had to, sorry not alot of help there, the BBC is on a stand with no pulleys on it till spring (when the snow melts and it warms up!)

Re: Anyone with a early 90's 7.4 in there truck?
jkade,
Man, I can hardly make heads or tails of what you are looking at with that photo. Actually, it doesn’t even look like a BB bracket at all with the belt tensioner on the A/C side of the bracket. The pre-’96 serp tensioners on big blocks should be on the alternator side. Are you sure this is a BB bracket? I venture to say, no, if you do actually have a BB bracket you do not need an idler there. The pre-’96 serpentine BB engines potentially could only use 3 idlers. 1) On the tensioner 2) In place of the A/C compressor if not A/C equipped 3) In place of the smog pump if not equipped with smog. Many did not even use any idler when not smog equipped. See if this picture will help. I just scanned it out of 1993 C/K service manual. Looking up a ’97 as 70rs/ss mentioned will not do you any good for stamped steel brackets. The ’96 and later big block cast iron brackets are a totally different animal compared to pre ’96 as you can see by my Gen VI picture.
