Air Conditioning diverter door
Sounds like something is clicking down by the diverter door On my '94 C-1500, when you first turn it on, and after you turn it off it makes the noise. A friend said it was the diverter door gear drive. Anybody know anything about this????? Is it easy to repair???? Help !!!!!! TJ

When the door has something holding it, or the gear drive in the actuator motor is wearing out it will cause that type of ratcheting noise.
More times than not its the actuator motor. You'll need to find out what side the noise is coming from, Left/center of dash or Right side. The mode select door is located just behind the center of the dash. The recirculate door is located on the far right side. The recirc door opens and closes on every key cycle and is usually where the problem is. This one is a pita to change. It's located on the side of the case next to the kick panel. First step is finding out where the noise is coming from.. left or right. |
