Camper Special parts truck

I found a 1972 3/4 ton camper special parts truck (for $500.00) that has a decent cab and very nice bed. I have a 1971 Chevy long bed that I need a bed for. My question is are the beds on the camper special and the regular long bed the same size?

Do you mean longhorn by chance? They have wood floors. If they are both longbeds with metal floors they will interchange

if the bed is the same length, then it's a go.

the camper special has a regular long bed, the longhorn is the longer one if its a chevy. I could be wrong but I think GMC called there longhorn a camper special. Im sure some one will chime in if I am wrong. you can usaly tell the longhorn bed because you can see the seam... but to be 100% sure, just bring a tape with you.

Re: Camper Special parts truck

The camper special I just pulled home is just a long bed, same as anyother long bed. If it's a longhorn there will be a line 6" back from the front of the bed.

Re: Camper Special parts truck

I thought a camper special was a ford.
GMC had custom camper, the option package... which is nothing but HD tires, springs, shocks, and a sway bar... then there is the GMC Custom Camper.... the better looking sister to the longhorn, with an 8 1/2 foot bed.

Re: Camper Special parts truck

It`s a bit confusing.GMC and Chevy had a CustomCamper package that could be identified with a script on the door, but was an option in it`s self. You could have the package/no emblem.A Chevy could have the camper package on top of another trim package, like Cheyenne, yet be badged CustomCamper in place of Cheyenne if so desired. Then, there would be no script emblem on the door and no mention of Cheyenne/CustomSportTruck equipt.anywhere but on the options list. The 8 1/2` Fleetside Chevys and Wideside GMCs were called Longhorns and CustomCampers,respectfully.So...you could have a Chevy CheyeneSuper CustomCamper Longhorn on down to a base C/30 Longhorn. And you could have a GMC SierraGrande CustomCamper that was an 8`(camper pkg) or 8 1/2`(this was a CustomCamper CustomCamper)on down to a base CustomCamper3500 that had the 8 1/2` bed..

Re: Camper Special parts truck

Well, I knew it was a camper something. So what I'm gathering is if it's not a Longhorn then the beds are the same. Thanks.
