Dropping?
What is the lowest i can go in the rear without having to c notch my frame?
I was thinking this 2.5 spindles in the fron with 1 or 2 in springs and 4 or 5 in in the rear with springs... thanks

I have heard 6" in the back is pushing...I am going 5" myself (w/ a panhard bar)

there was a artical in classic trucks where they put the complete cpp kit on a 65 witch is the same as our coil spring set up and they said you could go 6" with no notches. my truck has 6" drop coils from western chassies got them at sport truck direct, only ones i know of that have 6 any how, there is still alot of room between my frame and axle.however if it ever does hit on a launch it will be a wild ride cause the rears will likley unloade so if that happens i will notch it. i would think you will be ok on a daily driver though

6'' is fine without a notch. There are quite a few of us on here with 6'' drops and no notches. ECE sells 6'' drop coils.

From what I read in past posts is you can go 6" without a notch, but I think you will have very little spring travel in the rear.

I know a local guy who used 4" lift blocks from a lift kit in his 67 shorty he said it worked fine I asked about the pinion angle he said he never lost a U-joint Anyone else try this?

If you do go 6 in the rear with no notch, is the ride really bumpy? Or does that depend on the Shocks you use?

I use the gray KYB shocks on my truck, the ride is good. The only problem I have is the rear bottoms out on the exhaust once in a while. It's my fault, I routed the exhaust incorrectly for the amount of drop.

I wanted my truck as low as I could get it without having to notch it. The guys at ECE said a 6" drop wouldn't bottom out unless I was loaded. Well as previously stated a lot of guys run 6" of drop out back without problems but sooner or later you are going to bottom out. Yes, 98% of the time while driving unloaded you will be fine but sooner or later you will bottom out. 5" is probably a lot closer to being a worry free drop. I thought about swapping out my rear springs for 5" springs but I really like the way it looks. I wouldn't call the ride harsh, but yes it is more firm than before it was dropped. My truck has 2.5" drop spindles with 1" drop coils up front. Out back are 6" drop coils along with shock relocators and a super track bar. The trailing arm crossmember was swapped for an ECE extreme drop piece.
  This is member 71see10's truck. He has stock height front springs along with 2.5" drop spindles up front. Out back he has 5" drop coils along with the super track bar kit.

I dont think the photo showed up but it showed that thare is about 4'' of clearance between the axle and the frame
