Bucket Seat Question

I got a set of bucket seats out of a 76 blazer for $25 what is the difference between 69-72 and 73-76 style. They are the low back seats like the 69-72?Would the 69-72 seat upholstery fit on the 76 seats? Are the seat frames the same. Thanks

Re: Bucket Seat Question

I'm surprised no one has answered this yet, I'm pretty sure there is a difference in the foam.

Re: Bucket Seat Question

Ive got a '73 myself and the only difference I can see is the pattern on the material. They both appear to have the same overall bulk and shape and ive even seen some catalogs selling replacement upholstery that fits both body styles. I wil see if i can recall the catalog but good luck in the mean time!

Re: Bucket Seat Question

the only thing I could see different was how wide the top foam was on the top. Will the 69-72 seat covers fit the foam? thanks

Re: Bucket Seat Question

Frame on 73 up low back buckets are 1.5 inches higher so they sit at a height that can be viewed from the back window.

Foams are square-ish at the top corner portions of the seat, but could be cut down and have 69-72 style covers added.

Re: Bucket Seat Question

There used to be a guy on here "Tom Hand" that had 73-77 blazer buckets in his Sierra Grande. They looked awesome and he used houndstooth covers that matched the black and woodgrain of his truck. The brackets were fabbed from two sets of bench seat brackets and unless you looked under the seat, you couldnt see the mods...

Re: Bucket Seat Question

youve got yourself a 76 and up console insert... the ractangles were for lap belt storage on these trucks until the integral shoulder belts came out in 76.. then they figured "hey, what a good place to hold your can of Billy beer while driving!".. i actually like the cup holder idea myself... bigblock73 has a neat write up on his website www.73-87.com... hope that helps...
