With all the oil/filter talk I figured I throw this out there.....

Good/Bad experience? I've been running it for a long time. Ran Castroil for a while but switched.

I know Royal Purple is good and heard that Redline is even better. For that matter, is anyone running Redline?

I had a 1971 ElCamino that I ran it in,changed it regularly & tore it apart at 112,000 mile & the bearings looked great & block was not at all sludged up.

I run Castrol GTX. I have a friend who is a safety engineer (does environmental studies for impact and whatnot) for a few big oil companies and he will tell you there is very little difference between all the major brands when it comes to oil (non-synthetic types). Anything short of off the shelf AM/PM brand will do a good job as long as you change it and your filters regularly.

I run Mobile 1 synthetic in my dirtbike.

Valvoline is what I run in my 69's 454 that hasn't been rebuilt yet. I'm thinking in the 400 sbc that I am putting in the K5 I will probably use a synthetic since the motor is freshly rebuilt. Not sure which synthetic brand though.

I run valvaline for a non snthetic oil, I run mobile 1 for synthetic( I figuer if GM trusts it over there own house oil for corvettes then it is good for me) and I run Rotella T in my Diesel.

Havoline - 97 F-150 (Since I bought it used)
Mobil 1 - 72 Blazer (Since I have owned it)
Mobil 1 - 71 Jimmy (Since I have owned it)
Mobil 1 - 80? Honda 250 4trax (Since I got it)

I use mobil 1 synthetic in the camaro, shell rotella in the powerstroke and castrol in everything else.

--What weight do you run?

I have ran it in the past. I run castrol in the 68 and the honda. I use whatever the dealer is using in the 06 CC. I ran valvoline in the old sunfire I had

I always use Valvoline. Change oil regularly and never had any problems or sludge. 20/50 in my blown injected engine, strait 30 in my daily driver

I run valvoline in everything. When I was in school I worked at an oil change shop and I was the pit man. After watching just about every kind of oil imaginable drain out of cars, Valvoline always seemed to look the best after a few thousand miles. Out of all the conventional motor oils, I would definately say valvoline, but when it comes to synthetics Im sure they are all superior to the cheaper stuff.

I don't want to sound like a know it all, but I used to work as a district manager for Napa Auto Parts. They sell "Napa Brand Oil", it is the same identical stuff as Vavoline oil, and it is 10-20% cheaper that Valvoline oil.

If you look on the back of the oil bottle, it is produce/package in same plant.

For those who want to save a couple bucks out there. I just buy Napa brand oil.

VALVOLINE Here in almost everything. I have run the redline oil products in some of my circle track engines as well as Valvoline and Mobil 1 syn. Have no bad experiences with any of these three, BUT I do think it is wise to watch things with all that is going on with todays oils in our older applications. I'm a firm believer most problems come from neglect moreso than type (that old I know it time to change but a few more mile won't hurt) I've doon it myself

I run shell rotella 15/40, both due to it being worn, and for the added zink they removed from gassoline engine oils.
before that I normally did run valvoline.
The few newer cars I've had always got mobile 1 ... even the leakers.

Valvoline dinosaur oils all around for me.
Straight Valvoline 30 wt. in my old GM trucks
Valvoline Diesel Blue in my Mercedes and Ford diesels
Valvoline Racing Oil in my Porsche 928

i run valvoline 10/30 in
'97 gmc--170,000 miles
'90 honda accord(sometimes castrol)--160,000 miles
'04 cub cadet mower
'02 toyota highlander--75,000 miles... no problems or sludge
and i run shell rotella T 15/40 in the '67 and any thing that i have had with a diesel motor

Napa's brand of oil is bottled in the same plant as valvoline from what I was told when I worked there.
