Short box trailer for sale in Illinois

-
I saw a trailer for sale on Highway 51 North of Centralia, Illinois (East of St. Louis) that was made out of a short box. Looked like it was a faded white or white primer. There was also a later model one at the same place. I think the name of the town where it was sitting was Sandoval. It was right along the side of the road but the wife was driving and I didn't have her stop so I could look at it. It didn't look too bad from the road though…..

This was Tuesday Jan. 30th. Someone might want to check it out if you're close...

If only I was a little closer.I might travel that far for one with a good metal bed floor though...

Re: Short box trailer for sale in Illinois

Well I've lived in Springfield all my life, and I'd be willing to bet you that bed is not worth the gas your going to spend driving to look at it. I guess what I'm trying to say is good luck, I'm not to far from there, but I'm going to pass. Il. is horrible with the salt. and with this bed being a trailor you have a 10% chance it's worth getting. I hope it works out for someone. Nice eye though oldno7

Re: Short box trailer for sale in Illinois

It would be worth checking out for someone in the area. The best deal that I ever made was a short fleet trailer in someone's back yard a few years ago. It was straight and rust free with original paint, and the guy wanted $15. I almost felt guilty.

Let us know what you find out.... If we had been driving the truck instead of the wifes Buick I would have checked it out. I could have pulled it home with that...

Well i drove down to check it out and it is a nice bed thats for sure. But under the for sale sign in small letters it had firewood $60 LOL!! i talked to the guy and its not for sale. Dang it. The trip wasnt a total loss i did find a 79 4x4 blazer frame and running gears for $250 and got dibs on a sweet 67 C10 LWB with a camper on back. Thanks for letting us know about it. I did have a good road trip.

Man, I wish I had stopped and looked. I'm glad it wasn't a wasted trip for you though. If someone had driven a couple hundred miles to look at it I bet my ears would have been burning..... Glad you had a good trip & Nice score on the other stuff.....

Do you think someone could talk him into trading it for a nice '88- up box trailer or something? Maybe if he is a guy that is only concerned about how nice & HD of a trailer he has- he might see it as a trade-up.

I must have been asleep on that one. I would have sworn it was a shorty. If I thought it was a long bed I wouldn't have even posted it..... Now I really have egg on my face... ..

Re: Short box trailer for sale in Illinois

I don't have anything to trade him personally- just thought the idea might be feasible for someone that does.

Don't feel bad, every time I see a '67-72 trailer I always think it's a shorty at first. They're hard to tell at a glance without the cab there as reference.
