the logic of irresponsible purchases
how many of you justify buying things for your truck that your really cant afford? lol.. something like this...
hum, i really would like new tires.. tires are important for safety. look at them old tires! they have dry rot bad and the tread is almsot wore (almost means prob 20k left hehe). if i buy really good tires now, they will last for 70 or 80k miles...wow that will be a long time. sure thats 710 bucks but ill wont have to worry about tires for a long time, i even should buy the warentee that will make sure they last a long time........ hum.. well, lets stop by the tire shop and just look.... next thing you know. your thinking.. man.. 700 bucks. ouch. guess ill eat ramen noodles for lunch for 6 months... hehehehh oh well..

Yep, i have done that kind of thing for my truck more than once. I had some whimpy little 235-75x15 tires on it, with alot of tread left on them. Then i got a urge to put some 255-60x15 white letter tires on it, since the 235's weren't safe in the massive 5 inches of snow we get a year down here . Before that, the flexplate needed to be replaced on the truck b/c it was excessively worn, so pretty much the motor needed to be pulled almost out. It smoked a little bit (bad heads, maybe worn rings too), so i thought, why not go ahead and get the motor rebuilt as long as the flexplate needs to be replaced . Oh well, i'm done spending money on it for awhile, i think, lol.

$700 ? for a set of tires? I think I spent $400 mounting and balancing included on mine. $700 tires better be REALLY nice tires with like really good air in them or something !

Its tools for me, when I see a good deal or something on sale I start salivating. Whether I need the thing or not! I've even had to stop myself once or twice while I was in the checkout line and ask myself,"Do I REALLY need this?" Then say "excuse me" to those folks behind me and go return that set of cobalt bits, or whatever, to the rack.

I don't know about where you all live, but around here (Central Arkansas) a popular place to eat has a BUFFET! All you can eat...only you can't haul any of it out in a "to-go" box. Sux.
The good thing is that as you get older, you'll learn that "all you can eat" is what goes on the plate the first time. No reloads. You don't have room for it. To paraphrase an old adage 'bout boats, I guess we can define a truck as "a hole in the air, surroundec by steel, into which we pour money". It don't get no better than that.

LOL @ Southpa! Hey I'm a tool whore too. I can't wait for the Canadian Tire flyer to come out each week to see what is on sale. The half price sales are too much to resist, even if it's something that you won't need too often. Just bought a roller cabinet from sears on sale. Can't keep my tools in little plastic boxes forever, right?

Man I like this, i've spent more this year than in the past thanks to this board . ( Just kiddin') I decided this year is it to get it done. Tryin' to get it runnin', rollin' and painted by the winter. So I can finish it by spring. I'm about 6 mo behind. Cos little OT at the plant. I'm takin' about 50 of my Earnhardt cars to a show Labor Day to sell so I can have extra cash to go to the Auto Fair at Charlotte in 2 weeks, sometimes you do what you have to. But God 1st, family 2nd, house & bills 3rd. Whats left the 69!!!!!!!

ramen noodles.......
NEVER AGAIN.... I'll eat dirt before I go back there. I used to drain all the water off of them and pour ketchup on 'em... it looked like spaghetti? but that was long ago...but I have been guilty of spending money on my truck that was for the cell phone bill or something else saying "I can squeeze another week or two out of them...before they cut me off, You think?" been lucky so far.
