GM 'A' body coils
Has anyone here used the GM 'A' body rear coil springs on their trucks? If so do they lower the rear at all? CPP sells drop coils for A body/truck as same coils. Their 4" drop for trucks equal a 2" drop for the cars. So would the stock car coils be a 2" drop for the trucks?

I think it'd be worth a shot.
Years ago, we had a kid (fast68) was gonna try it, but he started whining about something or another and never did it. |

Re: GM 'A' body coils
I saw a magazine spread on one of these trucks years ago and all I really remember is that they used rear coils(and I think fronts) from a Oldsmobile Vista Cruiser.I don't recall if they did any mods to make them work but I don't think they listed it.I believe the Cruiser is an "A" body.I know it lowered the truck a lot but I'm not sure how much.

Re: GM 'A' body coils
Years ago I read where a guy used early Monte Carlo coils to lower his truck. I don't remember if they were a bolt in affair or how much they dropped the truck though. Are the A body coils pigtailed also? Nowadays the aftermarket coils are more readily available and not too expensive. Just an easier way to go.

Re: GM 'A' body coils
I know I used our truck rear springs in the rear of my 68 Chevelle, 66 Impala, and in my buddy's 64 Cutlass. It gave us the lift the 70's required of our cars to be kool and fit into the budget better than the air shocks without the hassle of a broken hose messing up your day.
There were no mods to the springs going from truck to car, so I would imagine it would work equally well the other way so that the truck would be lower.
